1st Official Day in Okaloosa Beach

Although we started with sunshine, it quickly gave way to rain - so we spent the day exploring - found some great bike trails and more Waffle Houses than you can imagine. Destin is like a carnival city with lots of summer time gift shops and water parks. Great beaches.
Fort Walton Beach seems to be more the residence capital of the area. Lots of nice brick homes with many shopping places.
It's very similar to Alabama with the very nice people, snow birds from the mid west and a very pleasing southern drawl from the natives.Naturally, the Walmart was absolutely huge and getting the condo set up we definitely contributed to the local economy.
Nearby we have a Marine Park (senior day is wednesday) and long uncluttered beaches. There is a very long fishing pier that we will explore over the next couple days for sure.
