Dear Diary - it's Wednesday, January 28th at 5:45AM and this is the day that we got to leave (Blizzard messed original leave date on the 26th) for Florida - except there is snow everywhere - (have I mentioned how I HATE shoveling?) I'm outside shoveling the walk for the 5th time since yesterday afternoon. I'm not even looking at the van as I'm sure it's totally buried. (have I mentioned how I HATE shoveling?)
About 6AM now, and sure enough, the van is covered and the driveway plow has totally put a ton of snow right in front of it. Fortunately, he wasn't able to get very close and with some luck, I can shovel out the fluffy snow to the right where he plowed out the spot where Terry usually puts her car (we moved it to Jenn's house yesterday).(have I mentioned how I HATE shoveling?) So here we go and will toss the stuff into the plowed space and let the plow driver worry about it later.
7AM and I'm ready to try to blast the van out of the mess. Here goes nothing..... WOW the Toyota Sienna came out of there like a rocket - it must be ready to get out of here as well.
Not much other than packing the van and it's now 8:30 and we're all set to go. Annapolis here we come!!!
LATER THAT DAY
We have just zipped directly across New York City - never went less than 60 MPH and went from the Hutchinson Parkway to the Vince Lombardi rest stop over the George Washington bridge virtually by ourselves. And no snow even after they had predicted 1-2 FEET!!
NEXT DAY
A quick overnight in Annapolis with Alex and Whitney (Gwen and Tom flew out earlier yesterday) and we're off to Charlotte and staying at the Microtel Hotel there - best place ever and don't let the name fool you - it's anything but micro. Seems brand new.
Will skip the next couple days as there was driving, driving and finally on Saturday (a day early) arriving on Okaloosa Island in Florida (between Fort Walton Beach and Destin on the Panhandle)
Thought we'd need a place to spend the night but our luck continues as the condo is open and we can move in a day early. WHOOPEE.
Beautiful place, right off the big pool and a short walk to the beach. And the gym is as big as any hotel gym I've ever been in. Think I hit the jackpot this time.
